8 interesting things about me
I got tagged for this meme by Tonya at Swan Lake Samba Girl. I've had a really rough time coming up with 8 interesting things that you guys probably don't already know. The thing that most people think is most interesting is my bellydancing, but you guys already know all about that.
- I have been vaccinated for smallpox, I've got the little dimply scar and everything. I was born outside of the US, and so was vaccinated as a child, other friends of mine who are my age but were born here don't have them.
- I got a 2nd degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do. I studied it for the entirety of my teenage years, and progressed quite quickly because I was in the studio working out often 6 days a week. I know TKD gets a bad rap for being all "art", no "martial", but I had an excellent instructor who taught us a lot of grappling, ground fighting, and other non-TKD techniques. Like in all things, a good teacher can trump just about anything.
- I know how to use a slide rule. Yes, I'm a nerd. Shut up.
- I like to eat food like macaroni, Cheerios, etc in multiples of three. I count the number on my spoon or fork to make sure.
- I have never broken any bones. Not even any toes even the whole time I studied Tae Kwon Do.
- I think the roses you buy at the florist are insipid and tacky, but I *love* growing real roses in the garden. Especially hardy old-fashioned varieties that don't need spraying or fussing. The picture in this entry is from the Joseph's Coat climbing rose in a big pot on my front porch.
- I talk to my parents on the phone nearly every day. At least a short call every day but Thursday, and most days at least half an hour. Most of my friends think it's weird, but it seems normal to me. I had a roommate for a while in SF who was the same way with her mother, so I know I'm not the only one.
- I love to knit socks, but I almost never wear them. So I have almost a dozen beautiful pairs of socks languishing in my top drawer.
Ok, So I have to tag people, so here goes:
- Susan Senator -a dancer who keeps a really amazing blog about her family life with an autistic son.
- Aimee - I found her through her group bellydance blog, but her personal blog is fun.
- Tif - Her blog started out being about dancing, but has expanded
- Daniela - a beautiful and insightful dancer
- Naima - she keeps an interesting blog about her dance experience in central Missouri
- Amy - I'm not ignoring the tribal folks!
- Cherie - A former bellydancer who is now living and dancing tango in Buenos Aries.
- Finally, *anyone* over at Bellydancer's Blog - maybe a little kick in the pants to get them posting again!
